Following the tsunami disaster in South Asia, we have witnessed a worldwide outpouring of generosity that crosses borders, bridges cultures and unites humanity toward helping those in distress.

Never in our lifetimes have the humanitarian needs been so acute, the geographic dimensions so vast and the images so searing. We have a duty to respond to the tsunami devastation in a meaningful yet immediate way.
